* Sarah Peebles' "High-tech versus My-tech" comments on adapting music industry-oriented technology for experimental forms, and creating multi-layered improvisational systems. The following musical works by Peebles, created using Max and Sample Cell (Macintosh-based programmes) with electronics, self-sampled materials and acoustic instruments, are included on the accompanying MusicWorks CD:

  • Nocturnal Premonitions (1994) - composition miniature
  • The Nimbus (1993; exerpts) - live performance at The Nimbus; sculpture/installation and surrounding bamboo grove, with Naoko Kikuchi, koto; Peebles, computer-assisted performance (Yamanashi Pref., Japan)
  • The Curse of Border Vacuums (1994) - real-time, spontaneous studio composition, featuring radio surfing
  • Cinnamon Sphere (1995; exerpts) - live performance, with Toronto artists Nilan Perera, altered electric guitar with electronics, and Ha Chung Gong, calligraphy performance; Peebles, computer-assisted performance and shoh (Japanese mouth-organ)
